Table of Contents

Spain, our new homeland

Our travels often begin in Spain, where we currently live. Here, you’ll find photos of bustling cities like Barcelona and Madrid, with their unique architecture and lively culture, and the relaxed white villages of Andalusia, where time seems to slow right down. We have captured the passion of flamenco, marvelled at Gaudí’s architectural wonders, and soaked up the sun on the gorgeous beaches of the Costa del Sol. But I’ll also take you to less well-known destinations like Murcia, and Alicante, cities and places with a rich history and a relaxed vibe, and El Rocio, a pilgrimage site with a unique charm.

The Netherlands, our home country

The Netherlands, my home country, is a land of tulips, windmills, and charming cities. Here, you’ll find snaps of Amsterdam’s iconic canals, where colourful houses are reflected in the water, and the historic windmills of Kinderdijk, standing majestically over the flat landscape. But I’ll also take you to some of the lesser-known spots: the lively buzz of Rotterdam, the historical charm of Utrecht, and the serene beauty of the Wadden Islands.

Belgium and Luxembourg

Just across the border, you’ll discover Belgium’s medieval splendour. Have a wander through the atmospheric streets of Bruges, where time seems to have stood still, and be amazed by the vibrant energy of Antwerp, a city bursting with art and fashion. And don’t forget Luxembourg, a small country with a huge amount of natural beauty and historical sights.

France, there is much more

France, the land of love and art, holds a special place in my heart. Naturally, Paris, with its iconic Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, is a must-see, but there’s so much more to explore. From the romantic châteaux of the Loire Valley to the dazzling blue waters of the Côte d’Azur and the quaint villages of Provence, France is a feast for the senses. And let’s not forget Brittany, with its rugged coastline and mysterious legends.

Portugals hidden gems

Portugal is a country that’s often overlooked, but it’s left a lasting impression on me. From the colourful streets of Lisbon and the historical charm of Porto to the breathtaking beaches of the Algarve and the rugged beauty of the Portuguese coast, Portugal is a land of hidden gems. I’ve heard the melancholic strains of fado, tasted the delicious Portuguese cuisine, and enjoyed the hospitality of the locals.

More than just photos

This gallery is more than just a collection of photos; it’s a visual diary of our travels. Each image is a snapshot of an experience, an emotion, a memory. It’s an invitation to come along with me, see Western Europe’s beauty through my eyes, and dream up your own adventures.

So, have a good look around and get inspired. You might discover a new destination for your next trip, or perhaps you’ll relive the memory of a favourite place. Either way, we hope these photos bring you as much pleasure and wonder as they have brought us.
